Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness... Matt. 6:33a

Wow, what a year it has been already! You know something that I have found to be true, is that pretty much every person I have ever met loves the good times in life and really despises the bad times.  We would all be perfectly happy if we never had to endure hard times.  Have you ever stopped to think about a knife or what it does?  No, most people don't ever ponder things like these but yes, I do.  A knife is made to serve a purpose and that purpose is to cut things.  When it is first made the blade on the knife has a very sharp edge.  Now I am sure that the knife (if it were an antimate object) would be quite happy simply cutting through things and never facing an adversity as a knife.  However, after a while what happens to a knife is that it gets dull and can't be used to cut anything anymore.  In order to fix that, it has to be sharpened.  To sharpen a knife you slide it along the edge of a rough stone that grinds the old metal down, takes off the rough edges and makes it sharp again.  Now I am sure that the knife would probably prefer not to go through this rough treatment, but without it the knife becomes useless for what is was designed to do.  People were designed to do God's work and sometimes we get dull.  If it weren't for the rough times in life we would become useless for the purpose we were designed for but, when God scrapes off all the old dull junk we become sharp and useful again.  The bad times make the good times better!!  As I seem to have said often lately:

"Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding and in all your ways acknowledge Him and He will make your paths straight." Proverbs 3:5-6

Come and visit us this week won't you?
