    Bible Study – Exodus 2

    (Moses Is Born)

1 And a man of the house of Levi went and took as wife a daughter of Levi.
2 So the woman conceived and bore a son. And when she saw that he was a beautiful child, she hid him three months.
3 But when she could no longer hide him, she took an ark of bulrushes for him, daubed it with asphalt and pitch, put the child in it, and laid it in the reeds by the river’s bank.
4 And his sister stood afar off, to know what would be done to him.
5 Then the daughter of Pharaoh came down to bathe at the river. And her maidens walked along the riverside; and when she saw the ark among the reeds, she sent her maid to get it.
6 And when she opened it, she saw the child, and behold, the baby wept. So she had compassion on him, and said, “This is one of the Hebrews’ children.”
7 Then his sister said to Pharaoh’s daughter, “Shall I go and call a nurse for you from the Hebrew women, that she may nurse the child for you?”
8 And Pharaoh’s daughter said to her, “Go.” So the maiden went and called the child’s mother.
9 Then Pharaoh’s daughter said to her, “Take this child away and nurse him for me, and I will give you your wages.” So the woman took the child and nursed him.
10 And the child grew, and she brought him to Pharaoh’s daughter, and he became her son. So she called his name Moses, saying, “Because I drew him out of the water.”

    (Moses Flees to Midian)

11 Now it came to pass in those days, when Moses was grown, that he went out to his brethren and looked at their burdens. And he saw an Egyptian beating a Hebrew, one of his brethren.
12 So he looked this way and that way, and when he saw no one, he killed the Egyptian and hid him in the sand.
13 And when he went out the second day, behold, two Hebrew men were fighting, and he said to the one who did the wrong, “Why are you striking your companion?”
14 Then he said, “Who made you a prince and a judge over us? Do you intend to kill me as you killed the Egyptian?”
So Moses feared and said, “Surely this thing is known!”
15 When Pharaoh heard of this matter, he sought to kill Moses. But Moses fled from the face of Pharaoh and dwelt in the land of Midian; and he sat down by a well.
16 Now the priest of Midian had seven daughters. And they came and drew water, and they filled the troughs to water their father’s flock.
17 Then the shepherds came and drove them away; but Moses stood up and helped them, and watered their flock.
18 When they came to Reuel their father, he said, “How is it that you have come so soon today?”
19 And they said, “An Egyptian delivered us from the hand of the shepherds, and he also drew enough water for us and watered the flock.”
20 So he said to his daughters, “And where is he? Why is it that you have left the man? Call him, that he may eat bread.”
21 Then Moses was content to live with the man, and he gave Zipporah his daughter to Moses.
22 And she bore him a son. He called his name Gershom, for he said, “I have been a stranger in a foreign land.”
23 Now it happened in the process of time that the king of Egypt died. Then the children of Israel groaned because of the bondage, and they cried out; and their cry came up to God because of the bondage.
24 So God heard their groaning, and God remembered His covenant with Abraham, with Isaac, and with Jacob.
25 And God looked upon the children of Israel, and God acknowledged them.

Bible Study – Voices Of Jesus
    Series: 2022

    Introduction:
The Lord speaks to men today through the Word. He also speaks to the believer's heart by the Holy Spirit. We will take a brief look at some of the voices of Jesus as found in the Word.
    • I. The Shepherd's Voice -- Follow Me
        • A. The Sheep follow Him John 10:27
        • B. Follow Him and not walk in darkness John 8:12
            • 1. To follow Jesus expresses a union of the two, you and Christ 2. To follow Jesus shows that you are united or "hooked together" with Him 3. To follow Jesus is to go the same way as He goes
        • C. Follow Him and be a fisher of men Matt. 4:19
        • D. Follow Jesus and take up your Cross
            • 1. Die to the importance of self 2. Put the Lord first in your life every moment of every day 3. Make Christ the number #1 priority in your living; serving; and giving
    • II. The Master's Voice
        • A. Occupy till I Come Luke 19 :13
            • 1. here in Luke 19:13, it means "trade ye" or "gain your living" until He returns.
            • 2. Work, or do our daily tasks and jobs until He comes; work for the Lord till He comes again.
        • B. Jesus IS coming again in Glory
            • 1. We don't know when -- He is on HIS timetable
            • 2. Let's be ready for His coming; looking; working; serving; not giving up and not giving in.
    • III. The Savior's Voice
        • A. Come unto Me Matthew 11:28 This basically means to "come here and follow" it is a command of the Lord Jesus Christ.
        • B. We are to give our burdens to the Lord; Cast your care upon Him
        • C. To come to Jesus and follow Him brings rest
            • 1. rest here means "refreshment"
            • 2. the word "rest" as used here is NOT a rest from work but a REST IN WORK. This refers to the harmonious working of will; heart; imagination; conscience;
            • 3. As we work (labor) for the Lord, He will refresh us as we come and follow Him.
    • IV. The Teachers Voice
        • A. Learn of Me Matt. 11:29 let us be meek and lowly (humble) so that we can be teachable
        • B. Take His yoke upon you; this tells us that we should team up with Christ and submit to His authority.
        • C. We are to follow Christ's example I Peter 2:21-22
    • V. The Voice of the Bridegroom
        • A. The bridegroom has the Bride John 3:28-30
            • 1. the saved belong to the Lord
            • 2. we were bought with a price, the precious blood of Jesus Christ on the Cross of Calvary.
        • B. He (the Bridegroom-Jesus) must increase in our lives vs 29-30
            • 1. We need more of Christ and less of self in our lives
            • 2. We need more of what He wants for us and less of what we want for us
            • 3. When we give Jesus His rightful place in our lives, He blesses us more and more.
    • VI. The Voice of the Friend
        • A. I will sup with him Revelation 3:20 The word "sup" here means spiritual communion between Christ and you.
        • B. The True Friend knocks and offers help; encouragement and fellowship
        • C. Notice the context here:
            • 1. We have a local Church that has shut Christ out. They may have their traditions; pageantry; ceremonies; etc. but not Christ nor His power. Therefore, they are a powerless congregation just going through the motions of "religion."
            • 2. Jesus is knocking at the door of a local church and, as a "Friend", offers to come in "if" any man (just one person) will hear the Lord and open the door to the Lord.
            • 3. This shows the love; mercy; and grace of the Lord as well as His patience toward mankind.
    • VII. The Voice of the Physician
        • A. Christ makes one whole John 5:5-6
        • B. He heals the brokenhearted Luke 4:18
            • 1. sometimes we think of a physical healing; but there is the "spiritual healing" or the "mending" that is needed in a person's life after a heart - breaking experience.
            • 2. Let Christ heal you spiritually and do not dwell on the problems; give them to Christ by casting ALL of your care upon Him. I Peter 5:7
            • 3. Remember wounds take time to heal and Jesus, the Great Physician, heals broken hearts.
Conclusion: Continue to follow His voice. Read the Word and see what the Lord has for you. Allow your self to "Grow" spiritually. Learn and follow the Lord. Read the Word daily; pray daily; tell others what Jesus has done for you. Invite friends and relatives to become believers. Turn to Him in every aspect of your life and share with Him every problem and concern in your life. Make Him a part of your life on a daily basis.

    Knowledge Is Painful
    Series: 2022

I don’t mean that knowledge makes your head hurt

    Ignorance is bliss!

"I know best how to take care of me"

Solomon was the wisest man in the world

In all his exploration and wisdom, he found, that with man, everything is striving after the wind

Our own knowledge tells us without God it is impossible

It is painful for us to believe we can’t do it alone

As far back as Adam and Eve, man has sought knowledge

If we could go back, before all this knowledge, wouldn’t that be great?

The true knowledge comes from God

Are you ready to seek true knowledge?

    Bible Study – Exodus 1

    (Israel’s Suffering in Egypt)

1 Now these are the names of the children of Israel who came to Egypt; each man and his household came with Jacob:
    2 Reuben, Simeon, Levi, and Judah;
    3 Issachar, Zebulun, and Benjamin;
4 Dan, Naphtali, Gad, and Asher.
5 All those who were descendants of Jacob were seventy persons (for Joseph was in Egypt already).
6 And Joseph died, all his brothers, and all that generation.
7 But the children of Israel were fruitful and increased abundantly, multiplied and grew exceedingly mighty; and the land was filled with them.
8 Now there arose a new king over Egypt, who did not know Joseph.
    9 And he said to his people, “Look, the people of the children of Israel are more and mightier than we;
10 come, let us deal shrewdly with them, lest they multiply, and it happen, in the event of war, that they also join our enemies and fight against us, and so go up out of the land.”
11 Therefore they set taskmasters over them to afflict them with their burdens. And they built for Pharaoh supply cities, Pithom and Raamses.
12 But the more they afflicted them, the more they multiplied and grew. And they were in dread of the children of Israel.
13 So the Egyptians made the children of Israel serve with rigor.
14 And they made their lives bitter with hard bondage—in mortar, in brick, and in all manner of service in the field. All their service in which they made them serve was with rigor.
    15 Then the king of Egypt spoke to the Hebrew midwives, of whom the name of one was Shiphrah and the name of the other Puah;
16 and he said, “When you do the duties of a midwife for the Hebrew women, and see them on the birthstools, if it is a son, then you shall kill him; but if it is a daughter, then she shall live.”
17 But the midwives feared God, and did not do as the king of Egypt commanded them, but saved the male children alive.
18 So the king of Egypt called for the midwives and said to them, “Why have you done this thing, and saved the male children alive?”
19 And the midwives said to Pharaoh, “Because the Hebrew women are not like the Egyptian women; for they are lively and give birth before the midwives come to them.”
20 Therefore God dealt well with the midwives, and the people multiplied and grew very mighty.
21 And so it was, because the midwives feared God, that He provided households for them.
22 So Pharaoh commanded all his people, saying, “Every son who is born you shall cast into the river, and every daughter you shall save alive.”

    Wandering In The Wilderness
    Series: 2022

    How did they get here?

Sometimes, as believers, we may feel that way.

The possibility of something so much better just seemed to hard.

No one said following God was going to be easy!

    The intercessor
    Vs 19

God forgives, but blessings are lost

Believers today are wandering in the wilderness because of disobedience

God’s people were continually complaining against the very one that gave them freedom

Believers today, who are blessed beyond measure, do exactly the same thing

They could have had so much

    Where are we today?

    Do you fully trust God?

Children are a Gift from God

    Children come with responsibilities

These responsibilities are given to us by the creator that gave us the children

God’s word is the instructions for the training

    Children need instruction and discipline

    Correction is instruction

The greatest joy a parent can have

Children are a gift and a responsibility and the greatest thing we can do is love them

The greatest act of loving a child is to pray for them daily

There is only one way for a parent to love their children, they have to first love God

35 And the same day, when the even was come, he saith unto them, Let us pass over unto the other side.

36 And when they had sent away the multitude, they took him even as he was in the ship. And there were also with him other little ships.

37 And there arose a great storm of wind, and the waves beat into the ship, so that it was now full.

38 And he was in the hinder part of the ship, asleep on a pillow: and they awake him, and say unto him, Master, carest thou not that we perish?

39 And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.

40 And he said unto them, Why are ye so fearful? how is it that ye have no faith?

41 And they feared exceedingly, and said one to another, What manner of man is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him?(KJV)

    Evil
    Series: 2022

Evil is everywhere in this world today, and probably nowhere more prevalent than the United States

It has become so commonplace, most people don’t even flinch when they encounter it anymore

    If I were the Devil...

This was a piece that Paul Harvey read on the air in 1965

WOW, he was right on target with how the devil was making our country his playground

We see exactly what you are talking about but what can we do about it?

That’s the thing, evil has become so prevalent that people feel as if nothing can be done.

I am going to read another letter to you this morning

These are the very instructions for how to deal with the evil in the world today

We are in the end times and we do not know the day or the hour of Christ return

    One of the most important things we can do today is;
    1 Thessalonians 5:22NASB

We are usually pretty good with what we would consider the big things

Murder, Burglary, Assault….you know all the big things

    But what about other stuff

We invite evil into our hearts on a daily basis

We have TV shows and movies that glorify evil

We go to movies that are even called Horror movies and pay to open our hearts to evil

We read books that are all about evil

You see instead of abstaining from evil or fleeing from evil we invite it in

The “we” I’m talking about here is not the lost world but people who call themselves believers

God’s people have got to wake up and realize that the toxic things of the world are exactly that, TOXIC

We know that judgement day is coming and instead of remaining vigilant and watchful we practice evil ourselves

I work for the NWS and their job is to keep the people safe by warning them of incoming bad weather

What if the NWS decided to just keep all the info to themselves and not put out the warnings. People would die!

If God’s people who know what is coming do not tell others, people don’t just die.

They spend an eternity in a devil's hell in eternal torment

Stop entertaining evil and instead pray without ceasing!

Sound the alarm and tell people how they can be saved!

    Do you know Jesus?

    Pain
    Series: 2022

Most of you know, I went through a lot of pain last week

By Wednesday afternoon, I was feeling kind of sorry for myself and hoping for relief

Then I thought about all the pain others were going through

All those around me that I know had much worse pain that I was dealing with, yet they continue on

How about the Apostle Paul? He was shipwrecked 3 times and lost at sea for a day and night

He was stoned, scourged 5 times, beaten, scandalized, slandered and even bitten by a poisonous viper

Paul never left the path God put him on, and his focus and energy never wavered

So, is there something we can learn from the pain that comes in our lives?

First of all, we need to know that pain happens

We would like to think that God would allow those who know him to have less pain and suffering, but that isn’t the case

I read someone said “life starts with a swat to the bottom and goes downhill from there”

Those who serve God have pain too, in fact, we have already talked about some of Paul’s struggles

To top everything else off, Paul was given a thorn in the flesh that was straight from Hell

Our passage today says it was a messenger from Satan sent to torment him

Paul begged God 3 times to take away that pain, but God said "My grace is sufficient"

We know that pain is part of life, but do we ever look for purpose in our pain?

In our passage today, Paul says the thorn was given to keep him from exalting himself

Also think about Philippi, where Paul and Silas were beaten in public and locked up

After that happened, the message of Christ exploded in that city

Or maybe Ephesus, where Paul ministered for a long time and then, after a huge riot, was run out of the city

More people came to Christ in the aftermath of that riot than during the whole 2 years Paul preached there

While we are in the midst of Pain, it is hard to see a purpose, but we can trust God to have a purpose, and we should seek it

Not even Jesus was spared from pain, so, we should remember that pain also has power

In Paul’s pain, and his begging for relief, he received from God power

Paul determined at that point, he would rather be strong in Christ through pain, than in his own strength

We watch people who are in pain but work through it anyway with a great respect

A football player, who is hurting, but stays in the game to carry the team to victory

A soldier, who even injured, fights on to keep his platoon safe

How about Christ, who, while enduring the worst torture even before the cross, pressed on to finish the fight

These are things that inspire us to fight on through the pain

Pain happens, pain has a purpose, and pain has a power

One last thing to consider, Have you ever thought about how a pearl is made?

A pearl is made through great suffering to the oyster

The gem inside has great beauty and great value, all from the suffering of the oyster

We can be inspired by Paul, but it was the pain that Christ endured that gives us life

While we still endure some pain in this world, through Christ, we can be relieved of all pain when we get home

Are you certain of that fact in your life?

    God & Country
    Series: 2022

In the last two weeks we have seen decades of bad laws reversed

Our 2nd amendment rights were protected

    Abortion laws were overturned

    Prayer in school was protected

I heard it referred to as a month of horrors but I believe it was a month of celebration

However, our country still has a long way to go to get back to God

    Happy Independence day weekend!

Our great country was founded based on the freedom of Religion

Way back in the old testament, God showed a nation that it could only survive if it followed the Law

That law we know as the 10 commandments

Our very own country’s laws were originally based in the 10 commandments

Today, I want us to look at the most important way we can serve God and Country

We call this the Great Commandment

Love God and Love your neighbor

The first thing we all have to do for God and for Country is Love God with all our everything

How is this going to be good for serving our country?

If you love God with all that you have, you will walk with Him and He will direct your path

If God directs your path you will live the love of God and not get caught up in all the division

The biggest problem we have as a Nation is not all the division among the lost but among the saved

God’s people need to act like God’s people and live the love of God

Love your neighbor as yourself means to love like God loves

Jesus says we respect our Nation and God

We follow the laws of the land in a way that is pleasing to God

Our Nation is a Nation because brave men and women sought freedom to worship

When we think about Independence day it is important to remember why

With all it’s flaws, the United States of America is still the greatest country in the world!

But, always remember our first devotion is not to country but to God

If we truly lived the great commandment and loved God with everything and loved our neighbor as self,

The whole Nation would see how badly they need God

How can you live the great commandment unless you know the one it is about?
